The Community Projects of The Junior League of Champlain Valley (JLCV) provide support to Chittenden County through the JLCV volunteer efforts achieving positive measurable change in an area of urgent need in our community.

Current Community Impact AreaAFFORDABLE LIVING

The JLCV partnered with community organizations including, but not limited to, Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS), Ronald McDonald House, Lund Early Childhood Program, Vermont Foodbank and Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf to volunteer and advocate for individuals in our community struggling to live affordably. This struggle is caused by factors such as gaps in wages versus rental costs, limited availability of affordable housing and lack of affordable “healthy” food.

The JLCV is committed to creating and increasing a variety of volunteer and advocacy opportunities within our focus area that meet the interests of our members and needs of our community partners.

JLCV's Advocacy Committee was launched in 2017. Through the Advocacy Committee, JLCV is currently focusing its advocacy work on access to quality early education. Specifically, in conjunction with community partner Vermont Early Childhood Alliance, JLCV has advocated state senators and representatives for an increase in funding of $9.2 million to Vermont's Child Care Financial Assistance Program. It has also hosted a film viewing and panel discussion of "The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation

In 2018 we launched Chittenden County's first Diaper Bank.
